Carters Kids Gone Fishin

Fishing is fun - and Carters want kids to know it.

That's why we created the Carters Kids Gone Fishin' (CKGF) programme - a nationwide initiative that introduces kids to the fun of fishing in association with Police Blue Light run by Police Youth Education Officers. Targeted at kids from disadvantaged backgrounds (as well as children and their families from the wider community), the idea of CKGF is to reward kids for their good behaviour, and to encourage them to stay on the "straight and narrow".

Graeme Sinclair, host of the Carters Gone Fishin' TV programme, donates his time to take the kids fishing for a day, while Carters help out by promoting the event, providing funding and prizes, and organising the food, entertainment and transport. Carters employees also volunteer their time - for safety reasons there has to be one adult for every 10 kids, so that's a lot of extra pairs of hands!

Carters Kids Gone Fishin' offers kids and their families some quality time together in the great outdoors. It's also an educational opportunity - everyone is taught about size and catch limits, and encouraged to throw the little ones back.

Other businesses and community groups help out too - The Warehouse provide fishing rods and reels, and sometimes a local boat charter will contribute a boat for the day. Even without a boat, the day goes ahead - Graeme knows the best wharves for fishing!

Carters Kids Gone Fishin' events have been running for many years, with thousands of kids having a fun day out as a result. Carters host around 10 events across the country each year.
